Our Story
Our founder, Mary K. Nelson, M.S., an armed forces veteran and STEAM professional served in the US NAVY aboard combatant ships as Search and Rescue Swimmer and Data Systems Technician - the last of an elite group of advanced electronics engineers sent to the fleet prepared to overcome any Naval Tactical Data System technical obstacle. Altogether, she'd operated or managed more than 6 decades of integrated technologies.
From her early years helping build console televisions and integrating motors and solar cells onto lego's, through her STEM career in electrical, system, satellite, telecom, cryptographic, software, or directing Cyber Operations for a Joint-Service Intelligence Community organization; she'd always loved science and technology!
When Mary became a mom her daughter demonstrated that same scientific spark. She felt both career and personal lives could converge by promoting the education and integration of STEAM while developing the workforce pipeline through career placement.
eSTEAM LLC was formed to initially begin PreK-6 and University program development where Mary had relationships through the Girl Scouts, local Elementary Schools, and area Universities; and career development & placement leveraging relationships with academia, industry and government.
